Question
yes i have a 1995 525i bmw and the entire braking sys. is new and the tires are new the car has 159k miles on it and when you hit a bump at any speed there is something under the car that is rattling or bumping and when you put the breaks it dose the same thing. any ideals struts or other componets thank you john

Answer
Well John, to be honest with you that sounds like it could be a lot of things that my do that.  Here are a few things you can check that should get you heading in the right direction: Check bushings and on steering and suspension components.  Since there are no grease points on the car it will have some type of polyurithane bushings that do eventually wear and can cause ratteling squeaking noises.  You said the entire breaking system was replaced.  If it wasn't doing it before then it could be a problem that was created when doing the breaking system.  If you can, another good thing you can do that is not to expensive is have the tires taken off the rims and see if anything is in the tire bouncing around.  Sometimes sensors on rims that tell you when tire pressure is low can break off and fall inside the tire and make sounds when driving.  To be honest with you it sounds to me that when they did your brake job something was not tightened all the way like a strut or something and when you hit a bump or brake there is movement or play n the component that is making that sound you are hearing.  Try taking the wheel off on both sides of the front of the car and start grabbing things like struts, control arms springs, calipers etc..and try to move them in all directions and see if anything moves.  Try that and e-mail me back with results and we can go from there.  Or If you like, you can have someone look at it.  What I told you is a good place to start and most you can do on your own.
