BMW Repair: rpm gauge needle, 1988 bmw 735i, gauge needle


Question
I have a 1988 bmw 735i, the rpm gauge needle is not working correctly, at idle the rpm is at 0. The needle does move when given gas from the accelerator. Is there a way to fix it? I have taken clusters apart.

First check the reference sensor on the bell houseing to be sure it's plugged in and operateing correctly, if you have signal i would replace the gauge cluster.  I have never gotten into takeing apart clusters but if you wanted to know more search the archives or ask the patrons at:
