GMC Repair: 2003 Chevy Tahoe engine repair question, chevy tahoe, 2003 chevy tahoe

Question
We had a problem pop up a month ago with '03 GMC Chevy Tahoe. some diagnostics ran and thought fixed but problem is back. We have stayed on our regular maintenance schedule. I will check our records to see which major engine work was done last if there was exposure of wires at that point.

1. Before anything ever came on the dash panel; when walking by the front of the tahoe I could smell a chemical type burning smell; faint smell but there. it was really stinky.

2. The throttle body symbol came on and the reduced engine power warning came across dashboard and we slowly drove car home.

3. took it back to chevy auth. mechanics dealership shop; they thought it was some wires touching, they said they didn't think they were touching any longer and called it good????

4. one month later; same issue but now I think they are going to replace the throttle body and hopefully all wires coming and going and sensors? I am not sure what they said. something about the assembly.

so is it the wires or is the part itself malfunctioning? like getting stuck open? or is a wire just loose? also, is this wire in an area that only would have been exposed through mechanical work or is it a wire that is already openly exposed anyhow?

Thank you.

Lisa

Answer
Hi
I would not suspect the Throttle body assembly being at fault again.
The harness is a common fault, the yellow power feed circuit has an intermintant
condition allowing the circuit to go open.
The new harness is a connector with about a 6-8 inch "pigtail". It is a cut and splice
part, not a difficult repair.
I would suggest having this harness replaced first, and see if the problem is eliminated.
I hope this helps
