Alfa Romeo Repair: Clutch repair- 2000 gtv, clutch master cylinder, clutch repair

Question
1974 GTV: My clutch seems to have about had it. Can barely get into gear with pedal fully depressed. Pedal does seem to reset back to original position.
Can you give me a few suggestions on what to look for or test to determine exactly what problem is? Could it be more than just the clutch?

Answer
Need more info: what is the fluid level in the clutch master
cylinder reservoir.  Do you see fluid where the clutch pedal
rod goes through the firewall.  Is there seepage at the slave
cylinder. (it could also be a bent release shaft for the throw-out
bearing). If you tend to depress the clutch for long periods at
stop lights the old style throwout bearing could be worn.
