Alfa Romeo Repair: Alfa Romeo 156 19 JTD, alfa romeo 156, alfa digest

Question
I live in Belgium and own an Alfa 156 for 4 years now, a great car but sometimes, electric failures occur. Now I have in my dashboard on the left, where the kilometer meter is, a broken light. This round clock lights up in green, and the lower half is now dark beacause of the broken light behind it. My question is, how can I get behind this clock to repair this light, it is a bad contact, because when I hit gently ont the dashboard, it lights up again, but when I put out the headlights and turn them on again, the light behind the clock in the lower half stays out. Probably it is a led-light, but I have no idea how to get to it.
Do you ?
Kind regards
Dany

Answer
Dany,

I've never seen a 156.  They didn't see fit to bring them to the U.S.
Normally, the eyebrow on the dash releases with screws or clips.  There also could be screws on the lower back side of the dash.
You might try searching the Alfa Digest archives on the Internet and see if anyone else has had a similar problem.
I'm sure it's an LED and it could be a corroded socket or connections, or possibly a cracked circuit board.  They do that for some reason.
You might find a shop manual on CD or the book type.  We haven't seen any new Alfa's here since 1995 and the 164, was the last model imported.
I wish I could be more help, but I'd have to look at it and guess just like you.  It's better if you can find a diagram or parts breakdown.
