American Motors: 1978 amc amx

hello there iam hoping you can help..ive found a 1978 amx..the engine compartment sticker say its a 304..the owner says its the real deal..it also has what apears to be the levi interior..the car is black now but apears it was some kind of silver origionaly..tha car is missing the fender flairs..air dam..louvers over the back glass..and the targa strip..and iam not sure what else is supose to be there thats not...seems to have been robed of the high dollar body and interior parts..but other than that the car is there..its rough..but it runs and drives and has a new engine in it...can you tell me anything as to how many of these were made..and what my chance are of rounding up the missing parts..thanks so mutch

I don't know the number of units made, though I am sure that could be located online.
As for the missing pieces, once again, the internet is the best way to go. You might end up having to buy another AMX to get all of the pieces you'll need. There are a number of AMC clubs online with classifieds.
Also, call Collier AMC in Pikeville, NC @ 919-242-4462. They are an old AMC dealer and might be able to help you find the pieces.
