-----Question-----
I'm having trouble with oil pressure in a rebuild.  Is there a way to check the oil gallery plugs to make sure one isn't missing without tearing the motor down again.  Also if the back plugs weren't in there should be an oil leak, Yes??

What engine are you working with?

amc 360 in a jeep

Answer
Dale,
When you did the rebuild, did you remove all the gallery plugs? If you left one loose on the back of the engine, you'd notice a leak. The one's I am thinking of are under the intale manifold in the valve lifter oil gallery and behind the timing gear cover. What is your oil pressure at idle? at 2000 RPM? Do the lifters make noise? What are you rod & main bearing clearances? Did you replace the oil pump and the timing cover housing? What kind of clearance did you have around the oil pump gears and how far does the oil pump stick out of the housing?
Wow, that's a lot to ask for, eh?
Let me know.
