Audio Systems: alpine type x 10, alpine type x, 4 ohms

Question
Ok so i ordered a 10" alpine type x dvc 4 ohm sub and i already have 2 kenwood kac-9104d amps(they were cheap). Each of these amps are rated 900 rms at 2 ohms and i was thinking maybe i could hook both of these amps to the sub since it has a 3000 watt max. i think it would be a bit overpowering but i want to know what a professional thinks. Oh and i just read that these amps are dual mono drive and that's what got me thinking on this. So do you think that this is a possible setup and will run smoothly given the right amount of power? I also ordered a battery rated at 80ah to help with the power problem.

Answer
I am not a fan of connecting two amps to one speaker.  Each amp connected to one voice coil and with a mono-sub signal into each amp and having them set at the same power level will be safe - usually.

But, you cannot connect the amps together in parallel to drive any speaker system - it will crash the amps!

So, if you connect one amp to one voice coil and the other amp to the other voice coil you should be ok and it will be plenty of power.  But, you won't be getting the full power because the load on the amp is going to be 4 ohms, not 2 ohms.  Power will still be plenty....
