Audio Systems: 2006 Ford Explorer CD player, ford explorer eddie bauer, explorer eddie bauer

Question
The battery went out in my 2006 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer about 4 months ago.  After having the battery replaced the cd player would not work.  I have taken the battery cables off, waited an hour, hooked everything back up, and still nothing.  I get a "cd error" message when trying to turn the player on and a "no cd" when i try to eject a cd.  I called the dealer but of course was told that I would have to bring it in to have in placed on an electronic "something".  Can you please help me. The player has 6 cds in it and if nothing else I would like to get them out.   Thanks, Stephanie

Answer
I am going to refer you to Ernesto for a second opinion on this as he is the expert for this kind of problem:

But, my opinion is the data linking between the head unit and the cd changer are not communicating.  The changer may be damaged in some way or it may need a reset.  Sometimes there is a very small hole in the housing of the changer that requires a straightened out paper clip to reach in and press the reset button.  Don't know if yours has one or not, but look around for it and maybe you can find it.

I notice on some of the forums that pulling the car fuse out for a few seconds got the changer to reset.  Try that, but do not remove the battery cables.

Hope this helps.
