Audio Systems: car audio system, toyota camry, radio out

Question
I have a 2004 Toyota Camry w/ a factory installedx in-dash 6 cd changer.  It has stopped working.   At first, the error message tells me to eject the cds, but the cd player did not eject the discs.  Now it no longer gives the error message, nor does anything happen when I push the CD button.  Toyota says they have to take the entire radio out & send it to California to determine what the problem is.  What suggestions do you have for this problem?

Answer
Try a hard reset first; it that does not solve it you should do as the dealer suggested.

If it is anti-theft protected make sure you have the code so you can turn it back on after the reset.  To reset it you must remove power from the unit for 30 or 40 minutes. This can be done by pulling the battery cable from the main car battery (which will kill power to the entire car).  When you reconnect it the head unit will be reset and, if it is theft protected it will ask you to enter the ID code to allow it to turn on again.

Hope this helps.
