Audio Systems: box building, heavy duty construction, drywall screws

Question
I have 2 H2 orion 12's,rated at 2500 rms a piece, I am putting them into a 1985 cheverolet caprice.I was trying to get some ideas on the type of box to build for them, preferbly a ported. Not worried about space either. What would you recommend,as far as design and thickness of wood, and what would make them pound.I listen to a lot of rap music,if that helps. Thanks

Answer
yes knowing what music you listen too is the first question I ask when designing a box.  Typically I use 3/4 MDF available at homedepot and (I think) lowes.  Do you want help in determining box size and tuning and matching an amplifier to them?  I'd be happy to help you there.  as for the construction of the box I use 2.5" drywall screws in 3/4 MDF and liquid nails heavy duty construction and remodling glue.   You will need a decent table saw.  dont try to use hand tools or even hand power saws to build a good box.  As for the ports I recomend flared ports like these:

The flare helps reduce distortion.  Personally I like a box tuned to 30 HZ in a car.  Most people recomend higher around 33-35 for music listening and 40-45 for SPL competition. 30 will give you the deepest flattest most musical sounding bass.
Let me know if you want detailed help on building this box and matching an amp or 2 for these subs.
