Audio Systems: 94 Chrysler LHS, chrysler lhs, rca cable

Question
Replaced Factory Head Unit but Aftermarket Radio sticks out about 1/2 inch.  My problem is the RCA Cable causes this.  Talked to a friend and said to cut the plastic behind the unit.  Is this okay>

Answer
There are some cars that this is ok and some that it isnt.  I couldnt find out if it was ok in this particular year make model.  Usually the only plasic behind this location would have something to do with the ventiation system.  If it were me I would poke a small hole in it with a drill or knife.  maybe 1/2 inch wide or so and crank up the air or heat and see if there's anything blowing out of the hole or sucking in.  If there is you can just use silicone to close up the hole.  if not keep cutting but be careful there may be wires, vacume lines, or heater hose back there!
