Audio Systems: cassette adapter flipping sides, mechanisim, cassette adaptor

Question
I recently read your advice to someone that their cassette adapter may think it's time to change sides because of too much torque on the reels.  My player plays regular tapes just fine, but the adapter keeps flipping sides.  How do I correct this?  The adapter is brand new because my other tape adapter did the same thing and I thought IT was the problem.
Help!!!

Answer
your deck mechanisim is still the fault. evidently it takes more torque to turn the adaptor's reel than it does to turn the real tape's reels. all it means is your deck is on the verge of failure, and i don't think a servicer can do anything about it except replace the reel tables inside the deck, which would more than likely cost in excess of $150 to fix. i'd try a different brand of cassette adaptor, they are all electronically the same, but their reel mechanisims are somewhat different, and you might find one that works fine untill you change your deck. hope this helps, it's all i can offer.
