Audio Systems: stereos wire installation for 97 ford explorer, haynes repair manual, radio shack

Question
I have a 1997 ford explorer 4d, v-6, I hooked up the power wires , got the radio to light up, but cant get the speaker's wires to conect, i tried a battery to find out who belongs to who, but dont get any sound or pop from the speaker or battery, tried to conect some wires from the new radio wich are labeled front, rear, (+), and (-), but cant get anything, know conections coming from speakers are good cause it was working with other radio, can you help me or give me a tip on how to solve this priblem?

Answer
Fernando,

ok it sounds like you made the biggest mistake which is cutting the factory harness plug ... if you can wire it back on color for color then buy a harness adapter from radio shack or even wal-mart for 9-12 dollars this will wire into your new units harness color for color so you have no guess work .. if you cant wire it on .. since this is a ford the wire schematic i have on a help page wont give much help but you can give it a look anyway .. www.geocities.com/evilparadise02/stereo.html... you can download a GM general wire diagram that might give some help .. but since this is a ford you might want to buy a haynes repair manual of the specific car for 10-15 dollars which will pay out in the long run .. from this manual you can str8en out your wiring and should be able to re-connect the proper wires to the proper spots on the aftermarket harness .. hope this helps you out if you need anything else let me know

thanks
