Cadillac Repair: my 1992 Cadillac Deville, coolant system, head gaskets

Question
QUESTION: I have written in before in regards to the same issue. I have replaced the radiator and flushed the coolant system and put in stuff that helps the head gasket without replacing it. I can not remember the name of it. The car is performing well, the only problem is the temp lite keeps flickering and I know it is not overheating. Also, after running for about 25 minutes at an idle, the red lite that says "check engine temp" came on and the car was dinging. I shut it off for 15 minutes and when restarting it gave me a hard time. That was a first time for that. Any advice would help. I really love this car it was an anniversary gift and don't want to rid of it, but for my sanity I need to figure this out. Everything else with it is great.

ANSWER: If the check engine temp sensor illuminates there are only 2 possibilities:

Faulty temp sensor or leaking head gaskets.

Installing a sealing agent into the cooling system WITHOUT replacing the head gaskets does NOTHING but eventually plug up the heater core and you get NO heat after a few months or so.

What is your engine temperature reading ?.

QUESTION: I am unsure the temperature but I do know that my heat is not working anymore. How much would rectifying these problems cost? The car is in good shape interior and exterior. Not alot of "cancer" on undercarriage either. Please advise.

Answer
What you have donme is most likely plugged up the heater core with that sealer that you put in the cooling system. You will need to replace the heater core. You will need several pictures with directives and pictures of which can't be done on this website which only allows one picture. as this website is not mine,  You will have to e-mail: onlineautohelp@msn.com
