Cadillac Repair: high idle on 91 deville, aftermarket radio, radio facility

QUESTION: Hey i have a deville that has a high idle and runs like crap after it reaches running temperature. ive put in a new (ecm) (BCM) and (tps) would it possibly be a coil or pickup coil?

ANSWER: IS or HAS the check engine light ever illuminated while driving the car ?. If so, Retrieve the codes from the computer and let me know what they are.

QUESTION: NO THE LIGHT DOESN'T EVEN COME ON WITH THE KEY ON ENGINE OFF. THE ONLY 2 CODES IT HAS IS E 47 AND E 52 I ERASE THEM RUN THE CAR FOR A COUPLE SECONDS AND THIER BACK. THE CAR HAS AN AFTERMARKET ALARM SYSTEM AND AN AFTERMARKET SOUND SYSTEM. I JUST CANT FIGURE IT OUT. . .

OK, If you get NO display of fault codes then you have a loss of communication between the ECM and the BCM. There is no test available for this fault and both the ECM and BCM must be replaced.

I have seen many cases where when installing an aftermarket radio system the installer does not realize that there are various voltage wires that carry 5 volt, 12 volt and 16 volt current to and from the radio and if the radio is not installed correctly or the installer makes a mistake when hooking up the wires, the BCM computer can be permanentlt damaged.

You need to make sure that this aftermarket radio is wired properly and then replace BOTH computers.

Do NOT install new or rebuilt computers until you have a radio facility be absolutely positive that the radio is installed correctly. If I were you, I would install the original factory radio or an identical replacement and hook up the wires correctly and then install both computers.
