Hi,Khalid

If you need headgaskets, who did the diagnosis and why was it diagnosed with bad headgaskets?if you can forward me the info that would be great..if in fact the headgaskets are in need of replacing the current labor time for replacing is 20.3 hrs, depending on what the hourly flat rate is,say 90-100 dollars per flat rate hour your looking at around 2500 dollars parts and labor.if the work is done by a qualified shop,i would recommend a Cadillac dealership to do the work, and if its a Goodwrench Plus Dealership then it will carry a very good warranty on parts and labor, plus it will be done right the first time, depending on the rest of the engine condition and maintinance has been kept up it will last the life of the car itself.if you need more help let me know,Thanks

Answer
Hi,Khalid

A Goodwrench service plus is offered to customers and is given by GM to dealerships that show outstanding service and training in there service department, its a way to show the customer that the dealership has highly trained techs and has an excellent reputation,it will not lower the price on the repair, that is the price for the going rate of flat rate repair, but you can bargin with the service advisor or the service manager and they may cut you a deal.
If you do have the repair done at a Cadillac dealership and they are a Goodwrench service plus dealership, that repair carries a limited lifetime warranty on parts and labor, check into this and find out about this service.
On a side note,i have 2 Cadillacs in my shop now that the customer had gone to an outside repair place, they replaced the cyl heads, and charged 2600 dollars,we got the cars after the work was done complaining of a coolant burning smell, the headgaskets were leaking again,we removed the heads only to find that they had drilled the engine block to deep into the coolant passages, they did this to insert thread repair kits,we call them timeserts, well now both of these customers are needing new engines at 10000 dollars a piece.
