Cadillac Repair: brake calipers, 1990 cadillac seville, cadillac seville

1990 cadillac seville, had both front and back brake job.  
When i had the back braks done as i left the shop i heard a
loud rattle turned around took the car back they told the
brakes had to break in so so after one year during this year
took the car back 4 times no fix.. Never a rattle before ever
.  had front done 10months ago back done one year ago .  i
took the car in to have them

fix the rattle they caused and now they tell me 595.
dollares for a whole new braks job can you help me know
about calipers for my car can they be overhaul do they get
a core charge ect? do they go bad can a rattle cause
problem in the brake area just need some thing to look up
to get more answers

Hi KLynne, That shop sounds like all it wanted was your money and wasn't too concerned about the quality of the repair. The better buseness bureau helps resolve problems like this when shops want to recharge for mistakes they make or won't correct. I have seen caliper mounting bolt holes that strip out and cause the bolts to be loose and the caliper rattles. Also bolts left loose will do the same thing. Calipers can be rebuilt but usually we just install new or rebuilt ones on customer vehicles. Too time consuming and reliability issues make installing replacements quick and easy.
