Nissan Repair: 1993 Nissan 240 SE with a starter problem, nissan 240, pep boys

Question
I've had this car for 8 months and replaced the starter 4 times (it's in the shop right now, for the 5th time)
I turn the key and get only a click. The radio, lights, etc go on but the engine doesn't start. At first, it will start if I simply turn the key a few times but it gets worse. My mechanic suggested I turn the key, hold it, and shift slowly through the gears, which has worked occasionally, but it didn't today. Also, the starters are lasting progressively less time...I've wondered if it could be an ignition problem but the diagnostic keeps coming back with "bad starter" I'm at the end of my ropes with this...any ideas?

Answer
Ruth,

I would go with a different starter remaufacturer as the one the shop is using must not do a good job.  I have found that some remanufacturers are not as good as others.  Pep Boys has been good for me on getting good ones and their warranty is good too.
