Chevrolet Repair: 1996 Chevy Blazer squealing, chevy blazer, shiny spots

Question
My 1996 Blazer squeals like crazy from about 10 mph on up. The squealing goes away as soon as i push the brake pedal, but comes back when i release it.

Could this be a problem with the brakes?

Answer
Hey,

There are little tabs on the pads that engage the rotor when the brake material gets to a certain wear point.  You need to inspect the brakes and see if the tabs are bent or the pads are worn out.  Sometimes a pad can vibrate in the holder and cause a squeel.  Look for shiny spots or a loose brake pad too.
