Chrysler Repair: strut tower problem, dodge caravan, nhtsa

Question
I have been told that there may be a recall on the struts on my 2002 Dodge Caravan.  But, can't find anything about it.  It is my mom's van and she is not able to do anything so am trying to fix it up for sale.  It makes a loud popping and creaking in the front.  It only has 24500 miles and has been doing this since about 17000 miles. What would my chances of getting a dealership to fix this under a recall?
Thanks.

Answer
Hi Elizabeth,
I checked at the federal government sight www.nhtsa.gov
which records the required recalls and found nothing about the struts being a mandated recall. So I suspect it will not be something that a dealer will do anything about for no cost.
However, you could also go to  www.chrysler.com and select the 'for owners' tab, and there on the left side is a place to inquire about recalls that requires you to put in the VIN of the vehicle  (that is the number you see by looking from the outside thru the front window at the dash directly in front of the driver.
