Chevrolet Repair: Chevy Astro Van Idles, but loses all power when I try to drive it, chevy astro van, chevy astro

Question
I have a 1998 Chevy Astro Van (AWD) that has been sitting in front of my house for about 3 months (had a for sale sign in it).  Decided I wanted to move it and went out and the battery was totally dead.  I boosted it and it started and idled for about 5 minutes.  Then I went to drive it around the block to move it into my garage and made it about 100 yards when it totally died.  No juice nothing.  At the time the radio was on and I just turned on the windshield wipers so I thought maybe it was drawing more power than the alternator could produce and killed it.  I boosted it a second time, turned off all accessories and made it about 100 yards and it died again.  Boosted it again and let it run for 5 minutes or so and then tried to drive it and it made it about 25 yards and it died again.  Now this time I noticed that the anti-brake light was coming on and off intermittently as well as a exclamation sign on the left side of the dash (service engine light maybe, couldn't find this light in my owners manual).  Boosted it again let it run a couple minutes and drove it about 30 yards and it died.  Checked the battery cable connections and tightened up the negative cable.  Boosted it again let it run for 10 minutes put it in drive and watched the dash, the lights again were intermittently on and off, I thought it was going to die one time so I shifted into Neutral and let it coast for a bit.  Made it almost to my garage (100 yards) and it died again.  Boosted it again and finished backing it up to my garage, let it idle for about 45 minutes hoping to charge the battery, went out shut it off and tried to start it again and the lights in the dash were very dim and it wouldn't start.  Boosted it one last time and backed it into the heated garage to let it thaw out.

If the battery is too low will that cause the anti-lock brake light to come on?  Does the anti-lock brake system or something else draw power while you are driving that would cause it to not get enough juice to the spark plugs and cause it to die?

Please help.

Thanks

Answer
Hi garret... sounds like alt is not working..try charging the battery....check to see if you have 14 volts at the battery when running. or disconnect the battery while running, if truck quits then alt is not working...regulator could be stuck from sitting...replace alt if you can't get volts above 13.8.. make sure connections are clean as well...hope this helps....merry christmas
