Chevrolet Repair: accelerator cable, accelerator cable, question pool

Question
how do i adjust thhe accelerator cable on a 87 camaro

Answer
Why do you want to adjust that?  They come preset to a particular length.  Usually no adjustment.  There is an adjustment on the transmission kickdown and on the cruise control.  Are these the cables you mean?

Accelerator is usually adjusted by adjusting idle, if you have a carb.  That only adjusts the idle, not any slack or acceleration.  If you find the throttle is not opening enough or the cable has slack, you may have the wrong cable, the cable is possibly broken, or maybe you bent the bracket.

Try bending the bracket to take up any slack or make any adjustments you are looking for.

If it is another cable you are looking to adjust, write back for instructions on that.  I am C J S and I found this question in the 'question pool' which means the original person you asked discarded it.  Any of us experts can take it from there if we want. I did and will be happy to help further if needed.
