Chevrolet Repair: Yicks! Theres paint on my brakes!, wheel rims, hi mom

Question
In trying to spiff up a 20 yr old car, Ok, I guess I shouldn't have spray painted my wheel rims while they were on the car. I admit it was my mistake! Now my car makes a grinding noise when backing up & braking. Probably the paint got on the brake pads. I checked on the spray can, but it says nothing how to remove the paint. I was told by a mechanic at the local garage not to worry; that it will eventually rub off. I'm sorry, but mothers always worry.... Do you think the mechanic is correct or should the paint try to be rubbed off with turpentine or paint thinner? Would that hurt the brake pads?

Answer
Hi Mom,
Don't wory about the paint. it will not cause any problem at all, even if you got a lot on the pads. it will come off very soon.

Now...if the rubbing happens to be due to worn out pads, that's a different story.

But the paint didn't do it.
