Auto Insurance Claims: Solo Car accident, medical insurance company, health insurance company

Question
Hi,
I had a solo car accident few days back in  when I travelling with my family from Ohio to new jersey. I was responsible for the accident, car  went of the road. My wife got injured & was hospilized. I have filed a claim (collision) with my insurance company & My wife has also filed a claimed for medical against my insurance. But now the insurance company is saying that they are investigating the case as it is out of state case (Accident in PA & the policy is of Ohio). I want to know how can my wife recover her medical costs against my insurance. Also, can she get the costs from Health insurance company. Please advise.
Thanks a lot in advance
Best Regards,
Ravi

Answer
Hi Rajiv,

I do not know what coverage you have on your policy.

If you have PIP coverage, it will pay for medical expenses up to the limit of your policy and subject to any deductible. If you have Med Pay coverage it too will pay for some medical bills. If you have medical insurance through your job or private insurance, it will also pay any medical expenses.

You need to ask your auto insurance claims adjuster to tell you specifically what coverage you have for your wifes medical bills. You should also contact you medical insurance company to find out what information they need to process your claims.

I hope this helps
