slightly but not enough. what's next?

Answer
Hi Gerald,
What is the year/model/body style of the vehicle?  What/where is the pink button you mention? I need to know the specifics of what you have there.
Have you checked the level of the transmission fluid on its separate dipstick?
Usually the best place to start is by getting a fault code readout of the transmission control module.  A nationwide auto parts store, such as Autozone, will do the readout for free or an independent shop will charge $40 or less. Ask for the 4-digit code numbers that appear from this readout approach and we'll go from there.
Because the vehicle won't move you could try turning the ignition key: "on-off-on-off-on and leave on", doing that in 5 seconds of less elapsed time. Then watch the odometer window to see the mileage disappear and in its place any 4-digit number preceded by a P. Let me know if you get any such numbers. Otherwise a plug-in code reader that goes in a socket under the dash by the steering column will be needed to get any fault codes. Maybe you have a friend who has such a reader and will do it.
Please 'rate/nominate' my answer/me (se the PS below).
Thanks,

Roland
