Chrysler Repair: no starter: 00 Cirrus, check fuse, starter motor

Question
I have a 2000 cirrus LX with a 2.5l engine, it wont start even though i put a new starter in.  When you turn the key the bell dings but wont turn on the car, ive checked all my connections and they seem to be all connected right.  And when I took the plastic off around the steering wheel there was some metal shaving coming out of the ignition, that ignition was replaced less than a year ago. It just wont start for me can you help me out.

Answer
Hi Scottie,
Open the hood and look in the back of the power box where at the very rear is the starter motor relay (this section of the box is at a lower level). There are 4 relays and the starter motor relay is the front driver side relay. Have a helper try the starter while you listen to or feel the relay to determing if it is clicking or not. Let me know and we'll go from there. Also check fuse 8 in that box to be sure it isn't blowm or doesn't have a crack in its wire.

PS Sorry for the delay but I just found your question in the "pool" to which it had been referred by Kevin.
