Chrysler Repair: 99 lhs starter change, starter solenoid, catalytic support

Question
QUESTION: hi, trying to take change the starter on '99 lhs. i got the bolts out but i can't get the small wire uncliped from the starter. any tips on getting this starter out? thanks.

ANSWER: Hi Andre.
It is called a 'posi-lock' connector, but it isn' shown as to what is the trick for removing it.
Can you inspect the connector receptor on the repacement starter motor to see what it might look like? I hope you can remove it sucessfully.
Let me know which size (L) engine you have as there may be some other 'tricks' that you need to know about.

QUESTION: it's a 3.5L H.O is ther e a tab you need to push down on the top? just can't get my hand in ther to grab it. can hardly see it. they should bu a longer wire on it sow you could moce the starter to a better spot.

Answer
Hi Andre,
It will be easier to remove the wire after you get the motor all the way out of its mounting.
There are a few tricks: This is from the '98 and '04 manuals but I believe it applies equally to your 2000-
After disconnecting battery and raising the vehicle,
remove one nut on the catalytic support bracket.
remove two nuts from catalyst support bracket mounting.
remove two bolts and one nut attaching starter to engine
remove battery positive feed wire
remove starter solenoid assembly from trans housing
position starter to gain access to posi-lock wiring connector
position jack stand beneath engine and slightly lift to relieve pressure from left engine mount (use wood block spacer to protect pan)
remove three left engine mount mounting bolts from engine block
jack engine up slightly to give more room to maneuver the starter
slide rear of starter out between catalytic converter and engine mount
disconnect posi-lock starter solenoid connector
remove starter

Install is the reverse.
