Chrysler Repair: wipers, motor mechanism, motor motion

Question
i can not get my rear wiper to work all it does is hummmmm.

Answer
Hello Shica,
By 'hummmmmm' do you mean that the motor is making its usual sound that it made when the wiper arm moved? or is it a different sound? If it is the same sound, then I suspect that the gears that translate the motor motion to the wiper arm are stripped and a new motor mechanism (or one removed from a wreck at a 'pull-it-yourself' wrecking yard) will be needed. If it is a different sound, perhaps much quieter, it could be that the motor is just stuck in some intermediate postion and if you removed it and examined the interior of the mechanism you could move the rotating part of the motor where is will operate again after you lubricate the bearing of the rotating part.
In either case, you need to remove the motor to find out.
There is one other thing to do: check that the motor is firmly attached to the panel that it is mounted on. It has to make good electrical connection for the electric current to return to the battery.  So see if the bolts that hold it in place are tight and then see if that helps. If not then the motor itself is the problem.
