Chrysler Repair: Chrysler Sebring Overheating Contd, chrysler sebring, water valve

Question
Hi Roland,

I took my car to the shop today to have it looked at for the overheating. They told me that its some water valve that is a dealership only part and in total to have it replaced and fixed its going to cost about $275. Does this sound right? The part they said wasn't anything you had mentioned in your response to  my first question so I wanted to check with you.

Thanks!

Lacee

Answer
Hi Lacee,
To evaluate what you were told I need to know exactly what is the name of the part of which they speak and the cost of the part and the cost of the labor. Also tell me which V-6 engine you have, the 2.5 or the 2.7 (it should say on the engine which). I wonder about a claim that it is a 'dealer only' part, so what is this unusual part?
