Chrysler Repair: Daytime Running Lights: how to create, daytime running light, daytime running lights

Question
I have to have daytime running light s installed in my 2005 Town&Country Lx. What is the process/whats involved for this to happen? Can this be done by myself of is it a process left to the professionals?

Answer
Hi Brian,
The latest manual I have is an '02, and in that one it appears that the drl function is programmed via the body control module to the front control module (located on the front of the power distribution box under the hood) and the latter module oscillates the voltage to the high beam filaments to produce the lowered level of brightness for the drl configuration. The wiring is probably already there, but modifying the present set up to produce drl may require replacement of the headlamp switch, the bcm and/or the fcm. About the only way to get it done cheaply would be to find a wrecked minivan already set up and scavenge those parts and try it out. Otherwise, it may not be so much a labor issue but a replacement parts issue from the dealership.
I would go to a parts counter at a dealer and compare the differences of parts for a non-drl with a drl model to see what might be needed.
