Chrysler Repair: 04 pacifica rough idle/hesitation, electrical continuity, continuity test

Question
My 04 pacifica has been giving me problems recently.  Its an intermittent problem but the frequency is starting to increase.  I have a really rough idle that at times will even cause the car to stall out.  when i begin to drive the car hesitates, it will usually "catch" and begin to drive fine.  The gas mileage is pretty poor.  The only error code the engine is giving me is p0135 that is the heat of the o2 sensor in bank one.  I recently changed the sensor before the converter but with a cheap autozone sensor.  the problem seemed to go away (along with the check engine light) only for about 3 days then it came back.  I am wondering if the problem is still that sensor and i should change it for an OEM sensor, or if the problem could be something else (ie. fuel injectors, MAP sensor, TPS sensor...).  Since it is intermittent im wondering if it could be electrical?  when the problem began, i also had to replace the motor mount which was pretty bad and started splitting some wires from the movement.  The guy that did the mount said he had to splice some wires together that got worn out.  Just wondering what my next step should be.  Thanks in advance!!

Answer
Hi Casey,
You have a good handle on what to do next. I would suggest that you examine the wires that were spliced, see to what they are attached and then perhaps we can ID where they go on the engine control module so that you can run an electrical continuity test on them for possible intermittent open or short.
When it is idling rough, try shaking the wire harness that shows to have been spliced and see if that corrects things.
Once that is done to your satisfaction then replacing the O2 sensor with an original quality one would be reasonable, and also check to be sure that the wires on the Autozone sensor haven't been compromised. Those are a weak spot.
If you write back with any wiring/attachment info please let me know which engine you have. I don't have a Pacifica manual but I may nonetheless have wiring diagrams for that engine as use in other models of Chrysler vehicles.
I would not try replacing other items without a specific fault code as that is a frustrating and often costly mistake.
