Chrysler Repair: Valve body removal: 42LE trans, valve body, shift cable

Question
how do you drop the valve body to change the solinoid pack
it drops down about 1 1/2 inch and hits something.
chry concorde  300 trans ??

Answer
Hi Darwin,
Disconnect the shift cable from the shift lever.
Move the shift lever as far clockwise as it will go, this will be one position past the L position. Then remove the shift lever.
Remove the pan bolts
Remove the pan (when reinstalling use 1/8" bead of silicone sealer)
Remove oil filter (held in place by 2 clips)
Remove valve body to case bolts
Remove valbe body assembly, but be careful to note the position and parts of the overdrive and underdrive accumulators and their springs which will very likely fallout (they are hidden above the valve body) when you pull off the valve body so that you can replace these when you reassemble it.
That is how the '98 and '04 manuals describes the job.
I hope this will free up the bind.
