Chrysler Repair: 95 neon: engine miss, neon auto, engine controller

Question
I have a 95 neon, auto. While driving the check engine light came on,from then it would miss or hiccup a bit while driving but idle just fine in park.while in park I pushed the gas pedal and the engine was cutting out, release the pedal and it will return to idle.If the gas pedal is pushed in slow it seems to be able to rev a bit more and then it starts to cut out again and will return to an idle no problem.I had a similar problem on a bronco 2 and I dissconected the throttle control sensor on the bronco and it made the vehicle drivable, I have tried the same with the neon(i have to work) and it is drivable. However I know the sensor may not be the issue, also i checked and there is plenty of fuel at the injectors,it was suggested that i may have a plugged fuel filter.  thanks in advance

Answer
Hi Jody,
Try the ignition key to get the fault code stored in the engine controller:"on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the check engine light which remains "on" to begin to flash, pause, flash. etc. Count the number of flashes before each pause. Then repeat to be sure of an accurate set of flash counts. The group the counts in pairs to form the 2-digit fault code numbers. Then go to www.allpar.com/fix/codes.html for a list of what the codes mean. Then if it isn't clear what to do write back and tell me which engine is in the car.
