Question
I BOUGHT A 1997 CHRYSLER SEBRING "SALAVAGED" KEY FOB WAS AWFUL WORKED FOR A WHILE, NOW DOESN'T. RECENTLY MY BATTERY WENT DEAD GOT A JUMP TUENED OFF CAR AN ALARM ARMED ITSELF. I WAS TOLD IF I SPLICE THE GREEN AND WHITE (-) WIRE IN THE DOOR HARNESS AND GROUND IT TO THE CHASSIS W/ SAME GAUGE WIRE IT WILL KILL THE ALARM IT THAT TRUE???? PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!

Answer
Hi Malinda,
There is no way to "kill" the anti-theft system because it is intergrated into a computer called the body control module which has many other functions. That being said,
The normal way to disarm the system is lock the unlock either front door using the door key. Try both to see if either one will do the trick.
What you were told is not exactly correct. It is correct that the dark green/white wire from the left door key lock (and the light green/white wire from the right door lock are the wires that carry the message to the body controller that you have locked/unlocked the door. But the signal are not simple grounding of the wires. Rather you need a 12volt supply wire from the + post of the battery and two different size electical resistors to mimic the door lock which actually has such a wire and the resistors built-in to it. So try the key to do the trick and forget about the grounding tip. I don't believe that will work.
Ideally one of the two door locks will disarm the system. If not, then you will have to get the two resistors (2,700 ohm and 620 ohms, respectively unlock and lock) and a piece of wire to jump 12v to one end of each resistor while the other end is attached to the wire in question. You will find those wires end up at pins 8 and 18 (left and right door, respectively) of the body control module's black 20-pin  plug located behind the fuse box under the dash.
