Chrysler Repair: 1999 Sebring Coupe - 2.5L removal of distributor, rotor position, chrysler sebring

Question
QUESTION: I have a 1999 Chrysler Sebring. It starts but won't fire. We've replaced the fuel pump, timing belt and are now attempting to remove the distributor. Looks like the original one on the car (car has 111,000 miles on it) and it's stuck! We've removed all the bolts and wiring harnesses, but it still won't come off. Any suggestions??

ANSWER: Hi Danny,
Here are the steps:
remove:
bolt holding air inlet resonator to intake manifold
air cleaner cover to air cleaner housing clamps (loosen)
PCV air make-up hose from air inlet tube
hose clamp at throttle body
air inlet tube, resonator and air cleaner cover
egr tube
spark cable from distributor cap
loosen cap hold down screws and remove cap
Mark rotor position and remove rotor
(when reinstalling make sure rotor returns to same position)
2 harness connectors from distributor
2 sets of hold-down nuts and washers from studs
bolt and cable hold down bracket from top of distrib housing
bolt and transmission dipstick tube
then distributor should come out

QUESTION: Thanks Roland. We actually have all that off as well. We can only slightly twist the distributor but seems like something is keeping us from pulling it out. Everything is clear from it, maybe it's corroded on? If so, what can we do to pry this off?

Answer
I would try spraying some penetrating oil at the seam between the distributor body and the flange into which it is inserted. Let it sit for a few hours or overnight. Maybe if you had a small heat source it would help to heat the flange. Just don't do anything excessive so as to avoid breaking something.
