Chrysler Repair: 1998 Chrysler Cirrus damaged fuel line, chrysler cirrus, 1998 chrysler cirrus

Question
The short section of flexible fuel line between the hard line and the fuel filter, near the gas tank, is kinked.  I was able to work out the kink with pliers as a temporary repair, but need to make a better repair.

The line is a black material that looks sort of like PVC and is semi-flexible. It slides over the hard line at one end and has a quick connect to attach to the fuel filter on the other end.  The hard line has two "ridges" and it appears the line was somehow shrunk over the ridges to retain it.

Do you have any ideas on how to repair this?  The parts stores have a repair kit with the quick connect, but it doesn't have a way to attach to the hard line.

Thanks.

Answer
The repair kits work quite well. The old pipe is carefully sliced off the steel line and the new one is heated up to be more plyable. Slip it over the steel end and clamp it in place. You can also replace the whole thing with rubber fuel injection hose, as long as it isn't more than 6 inches long.
