Chrysler Repair: Overheating quickly with high pressure coolant expulsion, 1996 chrysler lhs, head gasket leak

Question
Roland I have a 1996 Chrysler LHS that less then 5 minutes after filling the cooling system the coolant will be boiling hot and shoot up out of the radiator and overflow tank with a lot of pressure. What would you suggest may be the problem?  Thank you very much in advance.

Answer
Hi Bob,
Do you notice an unusual amount of white smoke come out the tail pipe when you first start the engine that persists for longer than you would expect from simple condensation? The fact that you have such high pressure so quickly can almost not be explained by anything other than a head gasket leak on one or the other bank of cylinders which is letting exhaust gas get into the cooling system crossing over through the leak area. See if you get coolant shoot out of one of the spark plug holes when you have removed the plugs and have a helper crank it over, or look for a wet plug when you remove all of them to tell you which side's gasket is leaking.
