Chrysler Repair: cv joint replacement, chrysler lebaron, cv joint replacement

Question

Answer
Hi David,
The procedure to replace it covers about 4 pages in the shop manual so I would not be able to type in all that information as well as the inability to post drawings at this site. I can offer to xerox copy and postal mail you the pages from the shop manual this morning so you might get it by Saturday, post office-willing.
Another source might be your local library where they may have a collection of shop manuals. And finally if a local parts store has the Haynes manual for your car #30030 that would also have the instructions.
What is very important if you are working on the right side (passenger side) half shaft is that you remove the distance sensor from the top of the transaxle extension housing (the box to which the half shafts are inserted) before you pull it out of the box, otherwise you will damage that sensor for sure.
You can either separate the end piece of the shaft and simply put on a new boot, assuming that the joint is just clicking due to loss of grease rather than being damaged, or of course buy a reboilt shaft. I have been able to save my old shafts by repairing them as soon as the boot goes.
It is something you can do yourself, but you need an instruction set to avoid problems. So use the "thank and rate" tab below to give me your address if you want me to send you the pages. Also, please rate my answer if you would be so kind.
