Chrysler Repair: 2000 Sebring Interior Air Flow, coolant hoses, blower works

Question
My 2000 convertible will only force air through the defroster...no heat...no vents.   Fan blower works on various speeds, but I can't get a 'mix'or any airflow from heat or vents.  Is this a dash switch problem or does this car have damper motors or vacuum? All fuses are good.  Thanks

Answer
HI Steve,
The air distribution door ( mode door) is electrically operated. The motor may need to be recalibrated:
Remove fuse 5 in the junction block under the dash for at least 60 seconds. Then put the fuse back in and wait for a few minutes. Then try the system and see if the air distribution works again. If that doesn't do it the manual says the actuator/motor located on the upper left hand side of HVAC unit must be replaced.
The temp door is controlled by a cable from the knob on the panel so you need to inspect whether it is connected to the arm of the door. But do you get AC temp control? Maybe the coolant flow through the heater core is blocked? Feel the two coolant hoses that go through the fire wall. They should be similarly warm compared to one another.
Write me back with the results and I can give you the procedure for checking the cable connection. You may be able to look under the dash to see the lever that is operated by the cable, located over the tunnel at the middle of the HVAC unit.
