Chrysler Repair: 1998 Concorde blower fan stuck on high, divider network, voltage divider

Question
The fan is on as soon as the ignition is turned on. I asked the control panel memory if it has seen any faults. It went through the paces and showed no faults. Any help in the next step is appreciated. Thanks,

Answer
Hi Steve,
Virtually the same question came in a couple of days ago. In general when this happens the voltage divider network which provides for the different blower speeds has failed. It is a "resistor block" with the conventional unit, but for the ATC with 14 speeds it is more complex.  There is a small circuit board component, the name of the unit is the 'blower power module', and is a solid state circuit rather than a set of resistors so that you get 14 rather than only 4 speeds as with the resistor block-type.
In either case, for this model/timeframe vehicle, the module is located in the distribution airduct just downstream from the blower motor. So you have to remove the right side dash underpanel to see the area. It is on the underside of the duct and you can locate it by following  the twisted wires from the  blower motor that are attached to it by plug. It has a couple of screws that hold it in place, with their heads facing down.  Replacing that with a new or used one should restore your multispeeds.
This advice is based upon the Haynes '93-7 manual but I will be receiving a Chrysler shop manual for '98 shortly and so if you find something doesn't 'compute' let me know.
