Chrysler Repair: 99 Chrysler Sebring wont start, chrysler sebring, mechanic shop

Question
The PCM fuse as well as the other fuses under the hood are good...any other suggestions?  Also, I called Chrysler and they said go ahead and tow it in to them and they would hook it up to a Diagnostic Machine ($80 + towing)...I called a mechanic shop a few blocks away from my house (we could pull the car there ourselves) and they said the diagnostic machine won't be any good on a car that will not start - Who is correct?

-----Question-----
The other morning I started our 99 Chrysler Sebring so that it could warm up, I came back outside about 10 minutes later and the car wasn't running.  I tried to restart the car but it wouldn't start, the car turns over really strong but just wont "catch".  When my husband came home he discovered the distributor was cracked and one of the spark plugs/wire were bad, he replaced all of these...car still won't start.  The repair book pointed to the timing belt (which my husband found to be very loose), he changed the timing belt (and a bad motor mount he found)...the car still won't start.  No check engine light was coming on prior to the car "dying".  HELP, do you have any suggestions?

Did you check the pcm fuse in the fuse box under the hood?

Answer
The dealer is going to have better diagnosics then your neighborhood repair shop.Better knowledge as well.A drb will tell you why a car isn't starting in most cases or at least lead you to the reason.I'm wondering did he replace the distributor cap or the whole distributor. If it was just the cap did he replace the rotor. If he did ,well I really think your next step should be the dealer, try to stay away ma and pa shops.Especially with a comment like that. How would they fix it.By trial and error. And on who's nickle? But don't be surprized if the failed part is a pcm or the distributor and they won't be cheap.
