Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1963 impala ss, amp circuit breaker, 1963 impala ss

Question
my 63's headlight keep flashing on and off, at first the low beams were ok at first, and switching to high beams would make all the lights flash continuiously. the shop can't seem to find a short, and the headlight switch and dimmer switches have been changed three or four times now. any ideas on what could be causes this?

Answer
First, I have to apologize and explain why it took me so long to answer - I JUST got this!!.  The system has some problem and is not sending questions to me when they receive them.

Your problem is that something is causing the circuit breaker to cycle off and on.  The low beams draw much less current than the high beams, that is why it was OK on low beam for a while, but your circuit breaker is not rated high enough for the bulbs you are using.   If they are the original bulbs, your circuit breaker is failing.  If you have upgraded headlight or other bulbs, you will also have to upgrade the circuit breaker.  Your car came with a 25 or 30 AMP circuit breaker for the headlights - exchange it for a 40 or 45 amp breaker and the problem will  go away, unless you have a bare wire rubbing on metal somewhere.

NAPA stores stocks circuit breakers in all sizes.  On your car, the circuit breaker is mounted on the headlight switch - it looks like a bathtub shaped thing mounted on the back of the switch, with a heavy wire going to it.
