Dodge Repair: Acclaim wont start, dodge shadow, fusible links

Question
Hello, Mr. Bond. I hope you've had a good Thanksgiving. Perhaps you can help me with a car problem.

My 91 Acclaim (same 3.0 engine, etc as the Dodge Shadow) started hard a couple of times one evening, taking a couple of tries to catch. Then it wouldn't catch, just crank. I noticed that I didn't hear the fuel pump pressurizing when I turned the key. I had to haul it home.

Now that I have it home, I did some simple tests: I have spark from the coil, and the rotor turns when cranked. The fuel pump wiring has no power to the pump. All fuses in the box are fine and the fusible links look ok.

Can you suggest something else for me to check?

thanks, Wyatt

Answer
Wyatt,
First of all, I would check in your owners manual and find out where, all your fuses are located, and relays. Then if everything checks out, you will have to crawl under the vehicle, support it and trace the wires to the fuel pump, and find out if one or more is broken or cracked. The fuel pump is located in the fuel tank. I would start from here, and if it cant be fixed on your own, then their has to be a electrical problem somewhere, and you will have to bring it to the garage.. Thanksgiving was good, hope yours was to, but Santa will be here soon(laughing.) Good Luck and Happy Holidays,,
