Dodge Repair: low fuel - car dying, stop signs, gas filter

I ran my 96 Intrepid to fumes.  I filled it up but now it is dying when running especially when slowing for stop signs and lights.  Are these linked?  Besides keeping the gas tank above empty how can I fix this?

it sounds like you have picked up dirt from runing your car empty. You should change the gas filter it is under the right side of the car along the frame rail . good luck to u hun and if u need more help please let me know and u also have a pretty name pete
