Honda Repair: Cruise Control, honda parts, diaphram

Question
Travis, Hi, I have a 1992 Accord and the Cruise doesn't work. Last time it did work it kept speeding up after I set it-did that 5 or 6 times then held speed properly, but the next time it wouldn't set at all.  Checked fuses, shut off switch on brake pedal, and made sure the diaphram and cable are able to move freely.  Also checked the 'set' button on the steering wheel, and checked hoses to the diaphram, also has power to the motors/pumps at the diaphram.  Any help???  thanks!

Answer
Val, good job on inspecting the basic areas for faults. Now the bad news either pay for the diagnostics further or start replacing parts themselves. It is not uncommon for the CC parts/areas to fail due to non-use. Things will freeze, stick, or just be in need of replacement due to wear and tear. Start by replacing the under hood mechanical device. This is what i would think would fail first due to extremes in temperatures. Or you can also spray down with WD-40 all the cables. Under the dash and under the hood. You should be able to find a replacement at a Honda parts recycler. Even though it is used it should still work fine.
