Honda Repair: shocks, haynes manuel, rear shocks

Question
i have a 96 honda accord ex v6. ineed front and rear shocks replaced. garage wants $900. seems a bit much. i have worked on cars before mostly older chevys and fords. is this something an average person can do? i have an haynes manuel but not real clear on removel, will i have to remove coil spring?

Answer
The removal of the coil springs would be the reason I wouldn't recommend you to replace them yourself if you don't know what you are doing.  That spring is under a lot of pressure and can hurt you if it flys.  I would try someone else because the factory ones cost about $125 each plus installed.  You would probably find aftermarket (Monroe or someone like that) for much less.
