Honda Repair: air conditioning noise, honda civic, good luck

When I run the airconditioner in my 2001 Honda Civic DX sometimes it makes intermittend whooping noises. What is causing this?

Your noise could be a number of things. It may be a loose or worn A/C belt. It may be a bad belt adjuster bearing, or even your compressor starting to go out. Since I can't hear the noise, it is so hard to diagnose. If it makes you feel better, take it to a shop and ask them what they would charge to diagnose it. It can save you a lot of money if it is your compressor that is going.
