Honda Repair: 1989 Honda Prelude Si, fuel system treatment, honda prelude

Question
Car looks amazing.  Garaged 64k.  Auto.  Excellent condition.  Second owner.  My honda and acura mechanic does only what is necessary. For example had the 60k service done. plugs, cap+rotor, trans fluid, air filter.  Thats a lot less than what the dealer would do.  Is all that extra work really necessary?  Oh and ps do you believe in any gas or oil additives such as fuel system treatment/cleaner, injector cleaner, and restore and I have gotten so many different answers about using Mobil 1.  I feel as if i am neglecting my engine, like i could be protecting it better even though my mechanic only uses honda oil and filters.  Thanks!  and Awesome website! :-)

Answer
Not too sure about the first part of the question. What are you asking? Sounds to me like you have a technician who works on your car at an independant shop. Get back to me on that question.
I do not believe in oil additives or mobile one. I think they are a big waste of money. I have NEVER seen an oil related breakdown in the 14 years I have been working on Hondas. Also several tests on motor oils were done. As long as the oil has the SAE rating on the container (I have never saw one that does not)it will be fine. Don't waste your money on Mobil one. Don't get me wrong, its great oil but you will be just as good using any other brand! I do beleive in fuel additives, but only a few. BG brand makes a product called 44k which works great. Also honda sells engine top end cleaner which works great. The only down fall is you need to take it to a technician to put it through your fuel system. I recommend it once a year to keep the carbon off your valves and intake system, and injectors.
