Honda Repair: SRS light, 97 Accord, honda accord v6, signifigant impact

Question
Hello,
I'm the resident Mitsubishi Expert at AllExpert.com and I have a Honda question.  My wife has a 1997 Honda Accord V6, auto, about 80,000 miles on it.  One day, her SRS light suddenly came on while driving.  She told me this, and I immediately had her take the car to the dealership in fear that her airbags may suddenly deploy while driving.

Well, after an hour or so of the Honda mechanics running diagnostic checks on the car, they had no clue when the SRS light went on.  They said her airbag system looked fine, but if she wanted to replace it, it would cost $800 to replace her entire airbag system.  I said no thanks.  So they just turned off the SRS light (reset it or something).

Do you know what could have caused that light to come on?  Any ideas would be useful.  Thanks!

Answer
No I don't Anthony, I do know that if they reset the "idiot" light and you've had no more problems I wouldn't worry if the dealer said everything checked out, I also know air bags SRS don't deploy w/o a signifigant impact so your worry of your wifes safety souldn't worry you however if the light illuminates you might want to worry about the SRS not working in a real accident! Hope I was some help. CC:)
